Publicis Groupe, the French owner of ad agency networks including Saatchi & Saatchi, has revealed that it has cut 1,800 staff so far this year and is seeking to make more than €170m (£150m) in cuts to fight the impact of the global recession. The company said that it had cut its global headcount by 1,800 since January. That represents about 4% of a worldwide staff of 44,727 as at 31 December, according to a 2008 annual financial report.

Detroit Metro Airport plans to cut 59 jobs by October

Detroit Metro Airport plans to shrink its workforce by as many as 59 positions by October, with some of the reductions occurring through layoffs. The airport employs 659 workers and wants to reduce that to the 600 to 620 range. It also has an informal hiring freeze in place
